In this post I want to cover upcoming changes to the DP-700 exam. Which is the exam that you need to pass in order to gain the Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification.

From April 21st there will be four relatively minor changes to the skills measured for the DP-700 exam. I decided to share details about these changes to raise awareness about them. Especially for those already studying for the DP-700 exam.
You can find all the skills measured for the exam in the DP-700 study guide.
Changes to the DP-700 exam
First changes apply to the skills measured to configure security and governance.
Previously you needed knowledge on how to implement row-level, column-level, object-level and file-level access controls. Now you need to know about folder-level access controls as well.
Second change also applies to the skills measured to configure security and governance. You now need knowledge on how to implement and use workspace monitoring.
Dinesh Priyanka has an interesting video relating to this. Which shows how to enable workspace monitoring and how to visualize some of the data in community dashboards.
Third change applies to the skills measured to ingest and transform batch data.
Previously you needed to know when to choose between dataflows, notebooks and T-SQL for data transformation. KQL has now been added to that list, so you now need to be able to choose between dataflows, notebooks, KQL and T-SQL.
Going through the recommended Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer course should put you in a good place to know which of these to choose in certain scenarious. However, looking even further into these topics always helps.
Final change relates to the skills measured to ingest and transform streaming data.
You now need to know how to choose between native storage, followed storage, or shortcuts in Real-Time Intelligence.
To help with some terminology here, followed storage refers to
