In this post I want to cover the advantages of Azure infrastructure knowledge when working with Microsoft Fabric. I wanted to cover this topic after my recent journey to gain a couple of Azure certifications.
One was more of a regain to cure an Azure certification itch to regain the Azure Administrator Associate certification. Whilst the other was to gain the Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
One thing I did notice whilst studying for the Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is that there appears to be no mention of Microsoft Fabric in it yet. I am sure that will change in the future.
Anyway, studying for these two certifications made me appreciate more the advantages of Azure infrastructure knowledge when working with Microsoft Fabric. Because a lot of the topics covered in these exams can be applied when working with Microsoft Fabric.
For example, areas relating to managing identities and governance in Azure. Which focuses heavily on a lot of areas that people ask questions about online whilst working with Microsoft Fabric. Such as Microsoft Entra ID user management and conditional access policies.
Plus, you can apply concepts covered in these exams within Microsoft Fabric as well. For example, various aspects of the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework.
To give a real-world example. Microsoft Fabric capacities are hosted in Azure. Knowing how to deploy and manage them properly can help you greatly.
Plus, Azure knowledge will help a lot if looking to create your own Microsoft Fabric environment. Because you can apply the knowledge to do more within Microsoft Entra ID.
Final words about Advantages of Azure infrastructure knowledge when working with Microsoft Fabric
My main point of this post is to highlight the fact that learning more about Azure infrastructure goes a long way when working with Microsoft Fabric.
Learning about Microsoft Fabric through various material and studying for the DP-600 Microsoft Fabric exam is a great. However, I recommend complimenting it with general Azure knowledge as well.
