During Virtual SQL Saturday LA we got a well-timed question about GitHub and Azure Devops.
We were asked if we thought GitHub and Azure DevOps were eventually going to be merged into one product. You can hear our reply to this question in the video from SQL Saturday LA. I shared a link for that video in my last post about using GitHub Actions.
In truth, there was a very good reason why it was a well-timed question for us two. Because we are debuting a new session called ‘GitHub and Azure DevOps Duet’ at Data Saturday ANZAC.
Our session at Data Saturday ANZAC will be about how a development team and an operations team must bond together and start using GitHub and Azure DevOps together. To perform Data Platform deployments.
During the course of the session, we decide how to make the most out of them both.
In reality, we know this scenario of using both together is becoming more common for various reasons. Especially after the introduction of Visual Studio subscriptions with GitHub Enterprise.
I’m not going to give too much away here. Apart from the fact that we share an interesting diagram before the end.

Excited
I am really excited about debuting this new session at Data Saturday ANZAC for various reasons.
First of all, it’s a brand-new session that we are co-presenting with new material. We know people will get a lot out of this session.
Secondly, because I have very close links with Australia. In fact, I first met my wife there in Alice Springs. I talk more about Australia in a previous T-SQL Tuesday post about taking breaks.
